Powertrain Warranty vs. Bumper-To-Bumper Warranty

If you are considering buying a new or certified pre-owned vehicle, you may be interested in information about any warranties that might apply, such as a bumper-to-bumper warranty or powertrain warranty. Here is a brief synopsis of these two.

A powertrain warranty covers only those components involved with putting a vehicle into motion. those components include the engine, transmission, differential and driveshaft among others. Still, some parts, like the battery, drive belts, fluids and clutch are designed to require periodic replacement and are typically not covered.

A bumper-to-bumper warranty, on the other hand, includes coverage for the powertrain, but also covers just about everything else on the car excluding body parts such as bumpers, interior trim and seats that are subject to normal wear and tear.
